2007 Playoff Update
- Well, the Colorado Rockies are on an amazing run. They swept the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-0 in the National League Championship Series, and continued their perfect postseason. Now, for the first time in their history, the Rockies are in the World Series. Hitting extraordinaire Matt Holliday was named the NLCS MVP. Holliday, according to MLB.com, hit .333 with two home runs (including a huge 3-run homer in game 4) and a team leading 11 RBIs. The Rockies made easy work of the DBacks, outscoring them 18-8 in the series.
Meanwhile, in the American League, the Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Indians went to game 7 to determine who was going to the Fall Classic. After taking a 3-1 lead in the series, the Indians completley faultered in games 5, 6 and 7. The Sox outscored the Tribe 30-5 in those games, mounting another incredible comeback to win the American League Championship Series. Pitcher Josh Beckett's incredible performances on the mound earned him the MVP of the ALCS. He was 2-0 in the ALCS allowing three earned runs in 14 innings pitched, good for a 1.90 ERA, while striking out 18 and walking one batter!
- So, a red-hot Red Sox team will square off against a Cinderella-story Rockies team, who have won 21 of their last 22 games. But, will a period of 8 days without facing live hitters prove to be too much for the rollin' Rocks? Or will they be able to ride their miraculous postseason all the way to the end and win the entire thing? This should be a very entertaining and intersting Fall Classic.
