If you are a Yankee fan, you have to be extremely ecstatic about Ian Kennedy. In a season where starting pitchers have dropped like fly balls lost in the sun, Kennedy has given the Bombers some hope for the future (both immediate and long-term). According to MLB.com, in three starts so far this season, Kennedy has 1-0 record with a nifty 1.89 ERA. He was almost dominant in Thursday night's start against the Toronto Blue Jays, where he pitched seven brilliant innings, allowing a hit and an earned run, while striking out seven.
With Kennedy, along with rookies Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, Jeff Karstens, Darrell Rasner and Humberto Sanchez, the Yanks seem to have their future close at hand. The Yankees of the future will have different names from their "dynasty" years, but the results may very well be the same.
By the way, prior to the 2004 season, no one in the history of the MLB had the first name Ian. Now, there are four players with that name (Kennedy, Kinsler, Stewart and Snell). Just some fun facts for you to chew on!
